Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe: International Heritage Fashion Week Opens Its Designer Call for Season 06 in New York

New York is calling its next generation of designers to the runway. International Heritage Fashion Week has officially opened applications for Season 06, inviting independent designers and fashion brands from across the United States and around the world to present their collections in New York City on February 11 and 12, 2027, right in the middle of New York Fashion Week.

The message to applicants is plain and direct: “Bring your vision to the runway. Showcase your collection on an international stage.” For designers who spend their days at the sewing table rather than in a corporate atelier, that kind of open door is rare. Heritage Fashion Week is built around one idea – that craft, culture, and heritage belong on the same runway as the big houses.

Four categories are open: Couture, Streetwear, Childrenswear, and Swimwear. The range says a lot about the week itself. A gown finished with hand-embroidered detail has a home here. So does a streetwear line born on a city block, a playful kidswear collection, and a swim line cut for real bodies. The common thread is not a single look. It is the designer behind it, and the skill in their hands.

A stage built for heritage and craft

The name is the program. Heritage points to the techniques designers carry with them – the embroidery learned from a grandmother, the weave of a home region, the silhouette that has survived three generations. On this runway, those things are not backstory. They are the collection. Six seasons in, the week has made its name as a place where a maker’s roots are an asset, not a footnote.

Showing during New York Fashion Week puts a collection in front of the buyers, editors, stylists, and photographers who descend on the city each season. New York is still the commercial heart of American fashion, and a February slot means the industry is watching. Designers who have made their NYFW debut at Grand Central know the kind of momentum a single well-timed show can create.

The call is deliberately international. A designer working out of a small town has the same shot as one based in Manhattan. New York has a long habit of crowning outsiders – just look at Austria’s Ella Wagner, who stormed New York Fashion Week after starting out in tiny Altendorf. Heritage Fashion Week is hunting for that kind of story: a maker with a point of view and the work to back it up.

The week carries an official sponsor whose name fits the mission. Heritage India Fashions stands behind Season 06, backing a platform where craft traditions from different cultures meet on one stage.

The timing lands in a busy stretch for American fashion. Miami Fashion Week returns this October for a five-day run, and regional weeks keep feeding new talent toward New York. For an independent label, a February runway slot in the middle of the national fashion calendar can be the difference between a local following and a national one.

Designers who want in can apply now through the official site at www.internationalheritagefashionweek.com. Updates are posted on Instagram at @internationalheritagefw, where the week’s message to applicants reads simply: “DESIGNERS, YOUR NEXT RUNWAY STARTS HERE.”

For independent designers, the runway has always been the great equalizer. No buyer asks where your studio is once the lights come up and the first look walks. What matters is the work – the fit, the finish, the feeling in the room. That is the bet Heritage Fashion Week keeps making, and applications are open now for those ready to take it.

Six seasons in, Heritage Fashion Week is still doing what it set out to do – giving the runway back to the makers. In a city where a two-minute walk can decide a career, February 11 and 12, 2027 might be the dates a few designers never forget.
