A Royal Legacy Captured: Roger Sichel Honors H.H. Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe
New York City, September 2025 – Tribeca’s celebrated One Art Space will soon unveil an exhibition that blends timeless artistry with royal legacy: the H.H. Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe Royal Portrait by Roger Sichel. “Roger Sichel the most important contemporary artist and Lexye “Queen of Palm Beach” Aversa launching the art in Florida… I am so grateful!” H.H. Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe adds.
The world-renowned photographer and filmmaker Roger Sichel, acclaimed for capturing cultural revolutions and icons of the past half-century, now turns his lens toward royalty. His latest exhibition does more than revisit countercultural icons—it elevates portraiture into the realm of dynastic storytelling. Central to this showcase is the series devoted to His Highness and Excellency Global Peace Ambassador Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe.
The Royal Focus
Prince Mario-Max is far more than a subject—he is a living legacy. Known internationally as an award-winning TV and event host, Bertelsmann Random House author, public speaker, and philanthropist, he embodies the fusion of tradition and modernity.
As the son of H.H. Dr.h.c. Prince Waldemar and H.H. Dr. Princess Antonia of Schaumburg-Lippe, and grandson of H.R.H. Princess Feodora of Denmark, Prince Mario-Max represents the Royal Danish Nachod Line of the Princes of Schaumburg-Lippe—the founding family of Hamburg, Lübeck, and Kiel.
Sichel’s portraits illuminate this legacy with rare intimacy, balancing regal poise with the warmth of a humanitarian who bridges the royal court and the modern world stage.
Beyond the Iconic Kiss
While Sichel’s exhibition includes his celebrated piece Smokin’ Hot Kiss—a photographic anthem of the 1960s counterculture—the addition of the Prince Mario-Max portrait series adds a dimension of timeless nobility. This juxtaposition of cultural rebellion and royal continuity underscores the artist’s fascination with figures who transcend convention, whether in art, activism, or aristocracy.
A Celebration in Tribeca
The exhibition opens with a VIP Reception on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, from 6–9 PM, featuring champagne and curated bites in the heart of Tribeca. Attendees will experience not only Sichel’s lens on love, rebellion, and intimacy but also his exploration of royal identity through Mario-Max’s portraits—each a testament to resilience, dignity, and heritage.
Why It Matters
The inclusion of the Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe series cements this exhibition as more than nostalgia or pop culture tribute. It is a cultural moment in which photography documents not just faces, but legacies that span centuries. Sichel’s camera does not merely freeze time; it enshrines heritage.
By showcasing the Prince’s portraits alongside iconic countercultural imagery, the exhibition challenges us to rethink what is truly iconic: rebellion, royalty, or perhaps the enduring dialogue between them.
