His Excellency the fabulous and highly respected Chinese Consul General Guo Shaochun invited to The 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China Celebration & Reception. A most memorable event in the City of Los Angeles.
On September 16 , 2025 , His Excellency Chinese Consul General Guo Shaochun and his wife in Los Angeles hosted a reception celebrating the 76th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China at the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles.
Deputy Consul General Huang MC’d the event introducing many dignitaries. Present were Consul Generals from Thailand, Mexico, as well as representatives from the LA Mayor and Head of the Port of Los Angeles and my good friend Richard Swanson from the West Region of US Commerce and Trade. It was a full house with nearly 200 friends from the business, academic communities including leaders from several universities and international students, members of the media and overseas Chinese, and representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises doing business in the US most residing within the consular district , Chinese are well-known for great hospitality. And this night was no exception for all to experience the Gracious Hospitality of Ambassador/Consul General Guo and his wife and and the consular corps in Los Angeles.
Consul General Guo took to the lectern and stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Consul Guo acknowledged the great contribution of The Flying Tigers and a subject that I deeply studied and know. Eighty years ago, under the banner of the Anti-Japanese National United Front, the Communist Party of China was established. The Chinese people persevered and fought bravely, achieving victory against foreign invasion. In the 76 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Communist Party of China has united and led the Chinese people in successfully blazing a path of tremendous development and transformation, achieving two miracles: rapid economic development and long-term social stability.
Consul Guo spelled out many of the economic achievements and open policy for investment.
Consul General Guo stated that humanity currently faces a choice between peace or war, dialogue or confrontation, and win-win cooperation or a zero-sum game. President Xi Jinping recently put forward the Global Governance Initiative, elaborating on its five core principles: upholding sovereign equality, observing international rule of law, practicing multilateralism, advocating a people-centered approach, and focusing on action. Following the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, these are important public products China has provided to the international community. It will inject strong impetus into reforming the global governance system, responding to global challenges in a timely and effective manner, and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Consul General Guo emphasized that the China-US relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world, with extensive common interests and broad space for cooperation. The Consul General further shared that this year, President Xi Jinping and President Trump have held two phone calls, reaching important consensus on improving and developing China-US relations. China and the US once cooperated to fight the Japanese War Machine and should remembering this great time of cooperation should seek to overcome and transcend barriers, meet each other with a sense of responsibility to history, to the people, and the world. These two Security Council members hold the responsibility to jointly safeguard world peace and stability and promote global development and prosperity. China has always maintained consistency and stability in its policy toward the US, guided by the three principles of “mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation” proposed by President Xi Jinping, and is committed to promoting the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-US relations.

Consul Guo stated, the Consulate General will firmly uphold the principle of “diplomacy for the people,” providing high-quality consular services with care and concern, and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and businesses in the consular district. This is something that has been dormant for some period since Ambassador Consul General Lu Jian and I believe Consul Guo and his staff are putting to action every promise of his speech.
The guests warmly gave their appreciation and then were invited to enjoy the fine Chinese cuisine.
