Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe speech at HE Ambassador Dr. Vladimir Božović’s – Consul General of Serbia – at Saint Luke Celebration!

An Evening of Diplomacy and Devotion:

A luminous gathering of diplomats, artists, and distinguished guests graced the residence of Dr. Vladimir Božović, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in New York, as he hosted a Patron Saint’s Day celebration in honor of Saint Luke the Apostle and Evangelist.

The event, held at his residence overlooking Central Park, and stood as a refined intersection of faith, culture, and international friendship.

H.H. Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe was asked by his friend the ambassador to hold the opening speech of the luncheon after the prayers and blessings by the clergy and the Prince has been emphasizing the friendship and cultural ties between him and the Serbian community, and the families best friend Dragica from Serbie and said: “You need a Serbian best friend in your life and being in New York I am so honored to call His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Vladimir Božović and his wonderful family my friend!”. His elegant wife and son who look like off a NYFW runway were the charming host family of this historical reception.

Dr. Božović, welcomed the occasion with the dignified warmth that has already become the hallmark of his diplomatic leadership. The Patron Saint’s Day, or slava, represents one of the most sacred and cherished traditions within Serbian Orthodox life—a celebration not only of individual devotion but of familial continuity and shared cultural heritage.

The evening began with a quiet reverence as the host led the ceremonial blessing of the bread and wheat, honoring Saint Luke, the patron of healers, artists, and chroniclers. The atmosphere balanced solemn ritual with cosmopolitan elegance, the soft hum of conversation underscored by the deep sense of unity that such a celebration inspires.

Guests from the consular community filled the elegant residence overlooking Central Park. The sumptuous meal was started by prayers and breaking the bread with the head priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church of New York and was a truly wonderful and blessed celebration.

Among the top level diplomatic guests were the consuls of New York.

Among them were Simon Andrew Cardy, the fabulous Consul General of South Africa, who is known for his brilliant insight on global diplomacy and economy.

Simona Florea, is the Consul General of Romania, one of our most beloved countries and shared her insight on the jubilee 2026 that will put Romania in the spotlight after the NYC Bucarest direct flight has been launched as well as a tourism, bridge is being built between the USA and Bucarest

Beatrice Szaboova, the Consul General of the Slovak Republic wore the most stunning jewlry and put spotlight on the modern Slovak achievements and her nationsl many accomplishments and great future projects that will make her country shine in NYC and the USA.

Senen T. Mangalile, the Consul General of the Philippines is currently hosting Jewelmer the worlds most famous jewel company of the Philippines in NYC at the Marriott Marquise showcase next to weavers and other unique top companies showing the excellence of the Philippines.

Each brought their distinctive presence to the evening, representing the international character of New York’s diplomatic corps and reflecting the solidarity that bridges nations through cultural exchange.

The dinner unfolded as a masterful expression of Serbian hospitality, where the host’s meticulous attention to detail brought forward the harmony of faith and diplomacy. Traditional dishes, prepared with authenticity and care, were served in a setting that blended classical refinement with the ease of genuine friendship.

As the evening progressed, artistry took its natural place beside diplomacy. The gifted dancer and choreographer Kanami Kusajima, based in New York and known for her visual and performance work, offered a movement piece that embodied both discipline and emotion. Her performance, set within the framework of the Saint Luke celebration, expressed the meeting of sacred inspiration and contemporary art. Each gesture carried a quiet power, illuminating how creativity transcends language and faith alike.

Following the dance, a moment of musical grace filled the room. Dr. Yevgeniy Dyo, Executive Director of Global Music Partnership LLC, performed on the violin with profound artistry. Based in Miami, his organization has long worked at the intersection of culture and education, and his performance that evening—poised, precise, and deeply felt—added a new dimension to the celebration. The music seemed to draw together the gathered guests, blending tradition and innovation into a seamless expression of unity.

In that setting, where representatives of continents and callings shared the same table, the concept of diplomacy found its truest form: connection through culture. The dialogue between nations was not conducted through speeches or formalities but through shared experience—through faith honored, art expressed, and hospitality extended.

For Dr. Božović, the evening represented more than a personal celebration. It was a reaffirmation of Serbia’s enduring identity within the global community, one built on cultural strength, moral clarity, and human understanding. His work in New York has continuously emphasized these values, positioning the Consulate General of Serbia as a center of cultural and intellectual engagement in one of the world’s most diverse cities.

As the night drew to a close, guests lingered in conversation, reflecting on the rare balance of intimacy and internationalism that had defined the evening. The presence of the consuls lent formality; the performances by Kanami Kusajima and Dr. Yevgeniy Dyo brought soul; and the guiding spirit of Saint Luke provided the meaning that united all who attended.

In New York’s intricate mosaic of global relations, such gatherings stand out not for their grandeur but for their sincerity. The Saint Luke Patron Saint’s Day celebration at Dr. Božović’s residence served as a reminder that diplomacy is most powerful when it honors tradition, fosters creativity, and extends genuine friendship. Through his graceful hosting, Dr. Božović once again demonstrated that leadership rooted in culture and respect can build bridges that endure far beyond a single evening.
