The FengShang Chamber of Commerce marked its 10th Anniversary with a grand celebration that drew more than 40 elected officials and over 500 distinguished leaders from business, academia, cultural associations, and community organizations. The Gala created an atmosphere of friendship, unity, and pride as leaders gathered to honor a decade of contribution, collaboration, and service to the Chinese and American Chinese communities in Southern California.
The elegant stage was adorned with vibrant floral arrangements, a beautifully lit anniversary banner, and three meticulously set VIP tables that created a dignified and elegant atmosphere for the FengShang Chamber of Commerce 10th Anniversary Gala. The setting alone reflected the spirit of honor, hospitality, and celebration that defined the entire evening.
As part of a longstanding Chinese event tradition, Marco joined other distinguished guests in signing the ceremonial banner, symbolizing unity, and the collective spirit of the Gala. Chairman Zhu appointed me several years ago as a “consultant” to the Chamber’s leadership. We often say to people that we are twin brothers of a different mother. The dedicated organizing team—whose tireless preparation, coordination, and hospitality ensured a seamless and welcoming experience for every guest—served as the backbone of the 10th Anniversary Gala. Their professionalism and warm spirit set the tone for an evening of excellence and celebration.
The evening featured a formal awards banquet and traditional cultural performances that highlighted excellence, camaraderie, and the enduring spirit of cultural heritage. A captivating traditional dance performance brought history and culture to life on stage. Dressed in beautifully detailed classical costumes, the dancers delivered a graceful and vivid portrayal of heritage that added depth, color, and elegance to the Gala’s celebration.
The evening was brought to life by the distinguished Masters of Ceremonies—Olivia Li, Michael Stancliff, Rong An, and Chong Liu—whose poise, energy, and polished presentations guided the program with elegance and cultural warmth. Her presence on stage was marked by exceptional elegance and confidence, adding a touch of refinement and grace that enriched the entire evening’s program.
Distinguished officials delivered congratulatory remarks, presenting well-earned certificates acknowledging the Chamber’s impact on economic development, cultural exchange, and community partnership. Having attended countless Chinese and American Chinese events across many years, this evening stood out as exceptional. Across my travels in 37 countries, I have learned that no one honors community, history, and contribution better than the Chinese. One official after another stepped forward to extend congratulations and recognize the Chamber’s achievements in strengthening economic and cultural ties.
State Senator Bob Archuleta delivered a congratulatory message recognizing the FengShang Chamber of Commerce’s decade of service and leadership. He also presented official certificates of recognition to Chamber leaders, honoring their contributions to economic development, cultural exchange, and community unity.
FengShang Chamber President William Zhai delivered thoughtful remarks reflecting on the achievements of the FengShang Chamber of Commerce over the past decade. His speech highlighted the organization’s growth, its commitment to cultural and economic exchange, and the collaborative spirit that has guided its success.
A Decade of Growth and Purpose
The Shenyang Chamber of Commerce in the United States—formerly the Shenyang General Chamber of Commerce—was founded in 2015. With strong encouragement from the Shenyang Municipal Government, esteemed leaders from Los Angeles who were respected, pragmatic, and committed to their hometown came together to formally register the organization with the Los Angeles government.
Following its establishment, Ms. Guo Song became the first Chairperson and Mr. Zhu Junying the first President. The Chamber quickly attracted a diverse and dedicated membership of entrepreneurs, scholars, professors, artists, and professionals representing many industries. Together, they formed a dynamic community of leaders who embody unity, progress, and a deep commitment to promoting peace and cultural understanding. Their work has made the Chamber one of the region’s most prominent examples of excellence among Chinese-and American Chinese led organizations.
Over eight years, the Chamber continued to grow through collective effort, shared prosperity, and an unwavering dedication to development. The most recent transition ushered in a new leadership team: Mr. Zhu Junying ascended to Chairman, and Mr. William Zhai was elected as the third President. With strong cooperation from directors and members, the Chamber looks forward to expanding its influence, promoting mutual benefit, and strengthening sustainable development.
Bridging Communities and Regions
The Chamber’s mission—supporting overseas Chinese in building strong communities rooted in love for their hometown, while expanding economic, cultural, and trade exchange between China and the United States—has earned enthusiastic support from sectors across Shenyang and the broader overseas Chinese network in America.
The founding initiative brought together Shenyang natives living in California, influential figures with ties to Shenyang, and a wide network of supporters. The first inaugural meeting was held in Shenyang, during which Ms. Guo Song and Mr. Zhu Junying were formally elected as founding leaders. In the same year, the Chamber received official registration and recognition in Los Angeles, establishing the US-SHENYANG CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. Two executive committees successfully completed their terms, with the third elected in 2022.
A Milestone Marked with Honor
The 10th Anniversary Gala not only celebrated a remarkable organizational journey but also reaffirmed the Chamber’s core values: cultural pride, community unity, professional excellence, and international friendship. The presence of so many elected officials, community leaders, and business innovators underscored the Chamber’s growing influence and the respect it has earned over the past decade.
From heartfelt speeches to cultural performances and a spirit of harmony that filled the entire venue, the FengShang Chamber of Commerce’s 10th Anniversary Gala stands as one of the most memorable community events of the year. It was an inspiring testament to heritage, leadership, and the power of cross-cultural cooperation.

Standing with leaders from different political backgrounds, Marco helped highlight the Gala’s spirit of friendship, collaboration, and bridge-building even across political divides. These two leaders showed wisdom of the cooperative spirit that is needed in communities across American and especially in Washington.
